Curse: Part One

     I tried to keep a steady pace, but was just too excited to grab the Gem of Immortality. As I started to run down the narrow, dark passage, the stone dropping some slight debris, Samuel tried to warn me. "You better look out, Carly! You could OBVIOUSLY get hurt! After all, this place has traps everywhere."      He was right, and I halted towards the end of the passageway. The Gem was sitting there in all its glory, and something in me drew closer to it. I felt my foot sink and quickly jumped to the left, dodging a spike from the ground. The cold air of the cave could be seen as I took a deep breath and inched slowly towards the gem. It's stone steps were the least worn-out thing in the cave, and the moon lit opening at the top that went over the Gem was absolutely gorgeous. I grabbed the magic 8 ball I had, which weighed only 0.8% less than the Gem. I thought it would be fine for a quick swipe, but that wasn't the case.      As soon as I switched the 2, the ball s
